SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 2

  • Environmental Hazards
  • Unsecure
  • Unknown Entity Count

“Have you ever looked at a cat tree- you know, those tower things people put up for their pets- and thought to yourself, “hey, it’d be so much fun to shrink down and climb around in there!” No, it’s been a week crawling around this awful place. The fantasy is over.”

- Operative Lefèbvre, Team Abigail

Description

Level 336 is an apparently infinite vertical shaft, approximately 700 ft2 wide, filled with a maze-like conglomeration of geometric boxes, platforms, ledges, steps, posts, and tunnels, completely encased in short, synthetic carpet. Every surface within the level is covered in it, including the walls. The substrate beneath the carpet is unknown; while there’s clearly a hard surface behind it, all attempts to pull up the carpeting have failed. It is firmly fixed, without any visible staples or seams, and will not lift or tear.
Why hasn’t this been updated yet? Quinn, I will annoy you and vandalize this article till it’s done. People, read to the bottom, this place isn’t safe

The level is well-lit, from multiple rows of large pot-lights embedded in the walls, which appear to extend infinitely like the shaft itself. Occasionally, lights can also be found embedded in other surfaces. They radiate a noticeable amount of heat, causing one to sweat within minutes of standing next to them. The lights likely contribute to the ambient temperature of the level, which is quite warm, around 23 degrees C. The air is also very dry and stagnant, with a cloying, dusty smell. Scrambling around the level’s terrain can become hot and suffocating- and lead to dehydration- very quickly.

Level 336 was named “The Carpet Shafts” by the operatives of Compass Point Team Abigail, who both discovered the level and serve as its current assignment of explorers. It was discovered by accident; while escorting civilians to Base Omega, three members of their party unexpectedly no-clipped through a mismatched carpet tile in the hallways of Level 4. No other reports of this level are currently known to exist, from wanderers or from other human factions. Investigation is ongoing.

Sections

The carpeting and features of the level are not uniform. Several different sections have been observed, in which the colour and texture of the carpeting change. The geometric topography also takes on distinct characteristics. So far, the relative location and distance between these sections appear to be consistent and Euclidean.

The first environment typically encountered.

This was the first environment encountered by Team Abigail, and seems to be where all entrances to the level occur. The blocks and platforms are covered in a light blue, tightly woven carpet, and while variable, the shapes that make up the landscape are predominantly cubes. Many of the boxes in this section are hollow (carpeted inside and out), and feature small square holes or “windows” that allow one to crawl inside and look out. Smaller versions of the pot lights on the walls came sometimes be found on the sides and floors of platforms in this section.

Notable Features & Phenomena

While exploration of level 336 is still in it’s infancy, a number of interesting occurrences have been documented by Team Abigail you could say that again

Known Hazards lol

The main hazards of level 336 appear to be environmental. As the layout is vertical, traversing it requires an extensive amount of climbing, and it is possible to fall from dizzying heights. Some areas have been discovered where the drop plunges straight down through the geometric maze into darkness, so it may also be possible to fall into an infinite abyss. The carpeting has synthetic fibres and mostly shallow pile, which make for poor grip while scaling vertical surfaces; travellers should be aware of their height from the nearest platform below them at all times.

Additionally, it is absolutely crucial to be well-equipped with food and water when entering this level, as sources of neither have been found. Most levels provide some access to Almond Water, if nothing else, but The Carpet Shafts appear to be a rare exception. They are completely devoid of sustenance. Team Abigail reported their lips, mouths and noses drying out within half an hour of exploring this level, and several experienced spontaneous nosebleeds; the greatest threat to travellers here is likely to be thirst. Anyone who finds themselves in level 336 without water (of any kind) should focus on exiting as soon as possible.

It should be noted that the copious amounts of dust in the air may be problematic for those with chronic respiratory disease or allergies. One operative reported that her asthma was triggered by the carpets.

Entities

No common or level-exclusive entities have been encountered here so far. However, it’s still too early in the exploration process to rule out the possibility. Yes they have! For fuck’s sake, change this before somebody dies!!!!

Bases, Outposts and Communities

No communities or outposts are known to be established here.

“It’s interesting in there, for sure- I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having fun. I mean, it got uncomfortable real quick. The dryness, the sweating, the dust smell- also it does a number on your skin. I made the mistake of wearing shorts- my knees and palms are raw. All that crawling around on the carpet- I know at one point my skin was weeping blood. And yet… I kind of want to go back? It was weirdly enjoyable. It’s like, “man, imagine if I found this as a kid!” It’s the perfect place to play an imagination game. Or hide and seek. Like, I want to build a fort in there.”

-Operative Gibson, Team Abigail

“We found a hollow box with a clear view of the surroundings- it had one entrance, a square hole halfway up the wall, and was quite spacious, so we made that our base camp for missions. It’s a good thing there are so many little nooks and crawlspaces- there’s some shadow to escape to. Trying to sleep in the open, under all those bright, glaring lights would be maddening. It was actually quite comfortable, the seven of us sleeping in that carpeted cube. Dare I say it- it was kind of cozy, in a weird way. It was warm. It was soft. It was quiet. It was alarmingly easy to fall asleep. All of us bunking on the floor together, it kept feeling a bit like a childhood sleepover. Until I remembered where we were, and the huge alien-ness of it all came crashing back. And of course we were always licking our lips, our mouths parched, waking up with little nosebleeds. More than enough to remind us.”

- Operative Ursula, Team Abigail

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

So far, two entrances to level 336 have been discovered.

  • No-clipping through a mismatched carpet tile in the halls of level 4 will take you here. Two of these tiles have been found. One is an empty office, close to Base Omega. The other is in an empty hallway, a full-day’s journey away. These tiles have been marked on-site, and the routes to reach them have been mapped.
  • No-clipping through the floor of a carpeted lounge in level 283. This is more likely to succeed if the lounge has no table

Exits

  • No clipping through any particularly large piles of hair will take you to level 241
  • A small, square hole has been discovered in the main walls of the taupe area, which leads to an office space in level 162
  • Attempting to no-clip through the carpet while carrying a substantial static charge has a risk of sending you to level 12. This method of exiting is not recommended.

EMERGENCY UPDATE: 18/09/24
Sorry Quinn! I know, CP aren’t supposed to change pages but our radios just went down! To anyone reading this: DO NOT COME HERE!

This is Team Leader Abigail. We’re in level 336. There’s something here. An entity, phenomenon, not sure. It’s coming. We’re hiding in our cube. There’s something gigantic moving overhead, sounds electrical, like a moving field or lightening storm, we can hear it crackling

it’s our fault, we triggered it- we picked up too much static. We all started arcing with the carpets, then arcs started bouncing between blocs, moving up the sgaft

Shit! whole level just starte vibrating. It’s rumbling its making my throat buzz, I can feel it through the floor. Sounds like engine purring? charge in the air- our hair is starting to stand up and float

lightning bolt touched down outside the cube! bright light now

We

UPDATE:18/09/24

This is Team Leader Abigail. We are all still alive. Thank… whatever it is we thank in here. The thing moved past us- it’s heading deeper into the shaft. We can feel the charge dissipating, the crackling and vibration moving farther away below us. The air reeks of ozone and melting plastic.

Radio is coming back, cutting in and out. We’re getting the hell out of here. Falling back to 162.

UPDATE:18/09/24

We just found this- a few blocks and structures away from where we were sheltering. This was not here before
